25th “Silver Anniversary” Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival

Where? 38370 Point Breeze Road, Coltons Point
When? July 10th-13th

Tickets are available now for the 25th Anniversary Potomac Jazz & Seafood Festival, so grab yours ASAP! This festival is one of the Mid-Atlantic’s signature events, offering visitors from across Southern Maryland and beyond live jazz music, delicious seafood, stunning waterside views, and a variety of activities to keep things fun! Explore the event lineup here, which includes free and ticketed options for the whole family. The main event will be held on Saturday from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with general admission priced at $75! The Silver Celebration will include jazz performances by Casual Groove, Rebecca Jade, Andrea Lisa, and Chelsey Green. There will be plenty of seafood vendors to enjoy, including Calvert Crabs Seafood, D’s Tropical Breeze, Grizzly Mountain Grill, The Salted Scoop, Crabby Corn, and various wineries and local craft beer options.

National Clustered Spires High Wheel Race

Where? 124 North Market Street, Frederick

One of this weekend’s most exciting events will be held in Frederick: the National Clustered Spires High Wheel Race! The only race of its kind in America, this is a must-see for individuals and families in the area. Watch racers from across the world compete in this race atop their enormous high-wheel bikes. In fact, the speed might even astonish you! Racers will be riding antique or modern high-wheel bicycles in a multi-lap race along a 0.4-mile route through historic downtown Fredrick. Across two qualifying heats, the top 20 to 25 racers will move on to the final championship race. Intermission events on Saturday include the low wheel race on “runt” bicycles along Market Street and the slow race — where the slowest racer to cross the finish line wins!

SHARKFEST!

Where? 14200 Solomons Island Road South, Solomons

SHARKFEST is an annual event held on the second Saturday in July at the Calvert Marine Museum! The festival is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and advance ticketing is recommended. If you’re fascinated by all things sharks, come view them up close while outside at the Corbin Nature Pavilion. The museum will be offering unique opportunities throughout the day to explore the diversity of sharks and their captivating history. Kiddos will enjoy the shark-themed craft, as well as learning new “sharktoids” to take back to their friends. Food, drink, and face painting will be offered for a fee. Museum admission applies on Saturday and members can still gain entry for free. No strollers or wagons will be permitted due to limited space.

LHP’s Bluegrass Music Festival

Where? 2425 Marston Road, New Windsor
When? July 12th

This Saturday, visit the 2nd annual Bluegrass Festival at Local Homestead Products from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM! Admission is free and attendees will have plenty of opportunities to kick back and relax while they jam out to live music and soak in the farm-fresh vibes. The festival will feature three bands playing throughout the day, as well as an array of food trucks serving up your favorites and specialty beverages from a local brewery. Kids will have a blast on the 5-acre playground, so bring the whole family! Whether you’re a fan of bluegrass or you just enjoy an afternoon well-spent outdoors, bring a lawn chair, grab something to eat, and soak in the summertime sunshine. This year’s lineup will feature Algorhythmns from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, New Day Drive from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, and Hayden Shaw and This Side of Pleasant from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

Crab Fest 2025

Baltimore Magazine is excited to present Crab Fest this Saturday at the B&O Railroad Museum from 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM. Hailing as the only Maryland food festival for all things crab served in every form, attendees should come hungry! Whether you’re excited about crab tacos, pretzels, corn, or steamed crabs (or all of the above), this is your chance to indulge in this regional favorite. From 20+ vendors, you can have a taste of everything. The 2025 lineup includes Beye Beignets, Box Hill Mobile, Conrad’s Crabs, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, and many more. As for refreshing sips, you’ll find local beer, lemonade, and the Blind Tiger Mobile Bar onsite. Live music will be performed by Rick and the Revolving Doors and Ten Karat Gold.

Maryland German Festival

Where? 2200 York Road, Timonium
When? July 12th & 13th

The 125th Annual Maryland German Festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Admission includes family-friendly activities, such as pony rides, access to the rock climbing wall, and the Judy Puppet Show! Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. There will be free parking onsite and festival hours begin at 11:30 AM both days and wrap up at 10:00 PM on Saturday and 6:00 PM on Sunday. Attendees can expect live music, dance performances, soccer demonstrations, and great food options! Enjoy all the classics, such as schnitzel, wurst, sauerkraut and other German favorites. Of course, you can also sip on imported German brews from the Paulaner Brewery in Munich.

Missed Sinners in theaters? You’re in luck because the Southwest Neighborhood Library is hosting a viewing of this 2025 film in Conference Room 2 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Friday. Catch this feature film with friends and neighbors at this community library for free! The film follows two twin brothers looking to escape their troubled lives as they return to their hometown for a fresh start. The runtime of the film is approximately 128 minutes and it carries an R rating. No tickets are required, so just arrive before the film begins to grab a seat and enjoy.

Music in the Circle: WAAC Band

Live music is back in the circle, with a free local performance at Dupont Circle Park from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM this Saturday. This weekend, join the WAAC Band, which consists of faculty, students, and friends of Virginia Tech’s Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center. The group has played incredible venues such as Alexandria’s City Hall and the National Building Museum! Tickets are free and there will be limited parking, so consider using the Metro. There’s always something fresh, with different acts and genres playing weekly. Grab a chair or a blanket and find the perfect spot to enjoy these live tunes with friends and family. The park features dozens of Adirondack chairs and several loops of benches, so arrive early for prime seating.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

When? Through September 7th

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has become a record-breaking hit and the winner of 6 Tony Awards, including Best Play! Through September 7th, you’ll have the chance to catch the performance at The National Theatre in DC. Watch as Harry Potter’s son, Albus, befriends the son of his adolescent rival, Draco Malfoy. The performance has a run time of 2 hours and 55 minutes, which includes one intermission. Friday has a 7:00 PM showtime and Saturday has two showtimes at 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. There’s never a dull moment in NoVA and this weekend is no exception. Enjoy Sunday Art in the Park with live music or trade some sports cards at the Cooperative Plaza Conference Center in Arlington. You can also jam out to live Latin American music or explore historic downtown Leesburg for a second Friday “First Friday” event!

Leesburg First Friday

Explore historic downtown Leesburg on the first Friday of the month while you enjoy live musical performances, art exhibits, wine tastings, book signings and so much more! The whole downtown area will be buzzing, with 45+ specialty shops, art galleries, and restaurants open until 9:00 PM or later. Many area businesses will be offering complimentary refreshments and/or special promotions. Due to July 4th being a holiday, July’s first Friday events have been moved to the second Friday of the month. Along North King Street, visitors will find live jazz music at the Lightfoot Restaurant and an open house hosted by the King Street Experience. Head over to Market Street for rooftop music at the Crow’s Nest and mouthwatering desserts at Mocatinas! Friday has endless opportunities, so check out the festivities to see what’s calling your name.

NoVA Sports Card Show

Enjoy a day spent buying, selling, and trading your favorite sports cards and memorabilia with fellow collectors at one of the DMV’s best card trading shows! This Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Fire Sports Cards is presenting the NoVA Sports Card Show. Admission is priced at $5, though you can splurge on $10 early admission to get in 30 minutes before the crowd! There will be door prizes, as well as a parking garage available in the building. The show will be held at the Cooperative Plaza Conference Center, which is 2 blocks from Ballston-MU Metro Station and close to 50+ restaurants.

Todo Sonido Festival

Where? 1551 Trap Road, Vienna
When? July 12th & 13th

Experience Latin music like never before at Todo Sonido. This music festival is dedicated to celebrating the vibrant and diverse sounds of the region, so immerse yourself in all things salsa, pop Latino, and more! The lineup has been thoughtfully curated for music lovers of all generations, so make it a family affair. This year’s headlining performers include Juanes, Carlos Vives, and Kany García, as well as entertainment on the Meadow Stage throughout the early evening. Make sure to arrive hungry, as there will be a range of delectable bites from La Casita Pupuseria, A Toda Madre, King of Pops, and other Latin American bites. Sunday Art in the Park

This Sunday, enjoy a stroll at the Reston Town Square Park as you explore Art in the Park! From 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, join the renowned Shenandoah Conservatory with Colin Davin & Friends as they play guitar music from Argentina, Venezuela, Paraguay, Cuba, and more. The program is intended to showcase a wide range of musical styles from Latin America, so pack a picnic and relax in the park with friends and family. The Reston Community Center is organizing this event and admission is free! Next Sunday, mark your calendar for Strings of Elegance: A Musical Soirée. You’ll hear Shenandoah Conservatory’s Professor of Violin Akemi Takayama leading some of the top string students in a captivating blend of popular hits and classic compositions.
