Summer fun is happening all across Maryland this weekend, from the 25th Annual XDA Bike Fest with adrenaline-pumping races to the family-friendly Harford County Farm Fair.
25th Annual XDA Bike Fest

This Friday through Sunday, don’t miss out on the XDA Bike Fest at the Maryland International Raceway. With over 600 motorcycle drag racers in attendance, this is sure to be the weekend’s fastest and most exhilarating event! The main event will be held on Saturday, with live performances by Backyard Band, Mambo Sauce, and more. Saturday’s schedule includes Afterdark Underground Grudge Racing from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, as well as pro racing through 10:30 PM. Additional fest activities throughout the weekend include a sound competition, a gamblers race, a street bike corral, and plenty of vendors to check out. Spectator parking is free.
Harford County Farm Fair

The Harford County Farm Fair is back and it’s bigger than ever! With live music and awesome track entertainment nightly, families of all ages will enjoy their time on the farm. Dive into delicious local food and drink options, as well as a wide selection of unique finds at various vendors onsite. Additional activities at the fair include inflatables, a straw maze, tractor pulls, and even a mullet contest at 5:00 PM! Little ones will enjoy meeting the animals, with admission including access to live entertainment, track events, exhibits, 4-H shows, and more. Tickets are on sale for this Friday and Saturday for $20, with children ages 6 to 11 receiving a discounted rate of $10. Kids ages 5 and under get in free.
Western Maryland Reptile Show

The Western Maryland Reptile Show will take place this Saturday at the Frederick Fairgrounds. Attendees will find a large selection of legal, healthy reptiles and the supplies needed to keep them safe, healthy and happy. The show will offer an informative environment, so whether you’ve owned reptiles for years or you’re looking to become a new owner, this is the place for you! The show will run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, so arrive early for the best selection! Admission to the reptile show is priced at $10 for ages 12 and up, $5 for children ages 6 to 11, and free for kids 5 and under.
Bethesda Outdoor Movies

Nothing says summer like an outdoor movie! Check out the lineup for the Bethesda Outdoor Movie series, which kicks off this Saturday and continues through August 8th. This Saturday’s screening will be of A Complete Unknown, starring Timothee Chalamet, Edward Norton, and Elle Fanning. The film is rated R, so parents should use discretion. Across three nights of blockbuster hits, attendees will soak in the 20th annual summer of the outdoor movie series in downtown Bethesda. Show times begin at 8:45 PM and will be held in a new location as of 2025 behind the Women’s Farm Market in the County Parking Lot. There will be a limited number of chairs available, so bring your own if you can. Admission is free for all. If you want to make an evening of it, consider enjoying dinner in town before the showtime.
SummerFest 2025

SummerFest is the annual free open house of the Olney Theatre Center. This Sunday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, come enjoy a day of creativity, community, and celebration. Complete with delicious food, outdoor performances, live music, and an array of family-friendly activities, this is a weekend event that you just won’t want to miss. SummerFest has been designed as a joyful and inclusive gathering space where community bonds can thrive. In 2025, SummerFest will also include interactive, community-led dance shows on the Root Family Stage at Omi’s Pavilion. Throughout the day, there will also be theater-based workshops and classes for all ages and experience levels at the Actors Hall. At 8:00 PM, there will be a free performance of ExDragvaganza.

Looking for a family-friendly festival this weekend in the capital city? Look no further than the DMV Made Festival on Saturday! The event is complete with multiple stages of performers, as well as game zones, hands-on workshops, arts pavilions, and much more. Presented by Words, Beats & Life, the festival will run from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM with an awesome lineup. This year’s acts will include E.U. feat Sugar Bear, Navasha Daya, KAMAUU, Awon, and many more. Families from across the DMV region are welcome to join in on this one-day celebration on the National Mall. Swing by the Health and Wellness pavilion or get active in the Sportz Zone. This is a free event and no tickets are required for entry.
Washington Mystics Home Games

The Mystics are taking on the Seattle Storm and the Phoenix Mercury this weekend. The Mystics compete in the Women’s National Basketball Association as members of the Eastern Conference. Impressively, the Mystics have qualified for the WNBA playoffs in 13 out of 23 seasons of existence. Mystics home games are played at the CareFirst Arena in the Congress Heights neighborhood. Saturday’s game is Sustainability Night and will tip off at 6:30 PM. Sunday’s promotion is Stics & Kicks, and tip-off will be at 5:00 PM. On Friday and Saturday nights in July and August, mark your calendar for Columbia Pike Movie Nights. Nothing says summertime like a movie under the stars! The best news? It’s free! Films begin at sunset (8:30 PM) and will be shown in English with Spanish subtitles. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to ensure comfortable seating. Leashed pets are welcome to join their families. On Fridays, films will be shown at Arlington Mill and on Saturdays, they’ll be hosted at Penrose Square. Neither location permits alcohol. This weekend’s movie lineup kicks off with Scooby Doo (2000) on Friday and The Garfield Movie (2024) on Saturday. Both locations have nearby parking garages available for convenient access.
Loudoun County Fair

You’ll find a vibrant mix of food, crafts, games, and local businesses at the Loudoun County Fair. From melt-in-your-mouth BBQ to sweet treats to satisfy those sugar cravings, this annual fair has a little something for everyone. Fair entertainment features daily Agricadabra shows, carnival festivities, the Bar C Ranch petting zoo, and even Scales, Tails and Teeth demos where you can see Jimmy Riffle from the hit show Gator Boys on Animal Planet as he wrestles alligators. The fair will be held at the Loudoun County Fairgrounds and tickets are onsite for $16.50 for adults, $5.75 for kids, and free for ages 5 and under. Parking is $5, which can be paid with cash in person or online by card. Fair admission includes rodeo, derby, and concerts on that day, with no additional tickets required.

Make the most of summer at the Beats, Bites and Brews event this Saturday at John Carlyle Square Park. Pack up your picnic blanket and grab a few friends and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy a beautiful day in July. Love all things cats? Then Capital City Cats invites you to the show! This is the largest cat show in the DMV area and will be held this Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM for an all-breed cat competition and adoption event at the Dulles Expo Center. This annual event welcomes thousands of spectators and over 150 cats across 30+ breeds. Capital City Cats is a family-friendly space, with a dedicated education ring, stuffed animal contests, and awesome vendors with some of the best cat products and toys on the market. If you’re looking to adopt a new feline member into the family, The Cats at Longstreet and The Humane Society of Loudoun County will be featuring adoptable cats this weekend. Tickets are on sale now for $20, with discounted rates available for military members and seniors ages 65+, as well as kids ages 5 to 12. Kids ages 4 and under get in free and weekend pass options are available.
Goo Goo Dolls

The Goo Goo Dolls are coming to the Filene Center this Sunday, with special guest Dashboard Confessional. Gates open at 6:00 PM, with the show starting at 7:30 PM. Fans of the Goo Goo Dolls and casual listeners alike will recognize smash hits such as “Iris,” “Slide,” “Black Balloon,” and many more. The band is drawing on over three decades together as they tour this year, delighting fans with their four-time GRAMMY Award-nominated and record-breaking history together.
