Check out these delicious food festivals, fall celebrations, and plenty of live music this weekend! Whether you want to dig into all things apple cider or you want to visit some of your favorite characters and actors at Comic-Con, this weekend is jam-packed with awesome opportunities in Maryland.
The Great Frederick Fair

Claiming to be “The Greatest Fair of All Time,” you won’t want to miss out on this awesome fall experience in Maryland! Make plans to visit the fair for all-day fun at the carnival and live entertainment throughout the day. With over 100 exciting things to see and do included in your gate admission, there will be no complaints of “I’m bored!” From the Cowboy Circus, RC races, free crafts, jousting competitions, and barnyard animal meet and greets, take your pick between the activities that are most appealing to you. Tickets are priced at $10 at the gate or $8 in advance for ages 11 and over. Younger visitors get in for free! Carnival tickets are priced separately, with $15 getting you 11 tickets to use as you see fit! The Jack Pass includes one gate admission and one “Ride All Day” wristband for the low price of $35.
2024 Baltimore Comic-Con

Hailing as America’s Greatest Comic Book Convention, this well-loved Baltimore event is returning this weekend for its 25th year! A few of this year’s guests include Jenette Goldstein, Sam J. Jones, Daniel Kash, John Wesley Shipp, and Mark Rolston. Comic-Con is hosted at the Baltimore Convention Center and parking can be booked conveniently through SpotHero. Children ages 10 and under get in free with a paid adult admission. Tickets can be purchased online for $30-$40, depending on which day you wish to attend. If you want to snag a three-day admission package, prices are set at $75 and you can even upgrade to the VIP level with early entry, exclusive merch, and more!
39th Annual Mediterranean Festival 2024

The 39th iteration of the popular Mediterranean Festival is sure to be bigger and better than ever. Kicking off on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, this three-day celebration will be held rain or shine. Come on out and enjoy authentic Middle Eastern food such as grilled lamb, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, falafel, gyros, and an assortment of homemade pastries! There will be various vendor booths selling goods such as groceries, jewelry, giftware, and more. The kids will have a chance to enjoy face painting, balloon art, and even a magic show. Take in the sounds of Arabic music and entertainment and participate in the raffle for a chance to win exciting prizes. Parking is free and there is no admission charge or ticket requirement!
Saint Demetrios Greek Festival
Where? 2504 Cub Hill Road, Baltimore

This three-day Greek Festival is one you won’t want to miss if you love the wonderful flavors of Greece. Dive into authentic dishes, as well as desserts, dancing, music, church tours and so much more! Also, remember to check out the after-party on Saturday night! If you don’t know where to start on the menu, grab an order of Greek meatballs served in tomato sauce or dig into pastitsio, which is a Greek lasagna-style pasta with a rich béchamel sauce. The braised lamb shank meal will leave you raving for more and the Mediterranean shrimp with feta cheese is a delicious option on the lighter side. Everyone loves rice pudding, spanakopita, dolmades, and moussaka as well! There will be free on-site parking, as well as free admission!
Magnolia Meadow Farms Fall Festival

The fall season at Magnolia Meadow Farms will run from September 21st through October 27th, so you have plenty of time to visit if you can’t make it out this weekend. Tickets are on sale for $15 when you buy online and $20 at the gate. Kids 2 and under get in free! There are 20+ activities once you get to the farm, including Maryland’s largest corn maze with an impressive 5+ miles of trails. There are also farm animal interactive opportunities, as well as a jumping pillow, pedal carts, mountain slides, and a barrel train. Food and drink options include festive favorites such as local apple cider, pumpkin soft serve, apple cider donuts, and loaded caramel apple nachos. Visitors 21 and up can enjoy Magnolia Meadow Farms wines, as well as lagers, pumpkin beer, and the honey granola blonde stout.
Shenandoah Valley Apple Harvest Festival
Where? 250 Fairgrounds Road, Clear Brook
When? September 21st & 22nd
Nothing says fall like an Apple Harvest Festival. The 50th-anniversary celebration this year will feature a Saturday night concert by the Chris Darlington Band. There is a separate $10 admission for the 7:00 PM show. The festival will host an array of local and regional artists and vendors across two open-air buildings, as well as a kid zone area with inflatables such as giant slides, an obstacle course, and a kid’s castle. If you love antique vehicles, there will also be a classic car and hot rod show on Saturday afternoon with prizes and trophies! Visitors 21 and up can enjoy hard ciders and craft beers and everyone can test their apple pie-eating abilities at the pie-eating contest! You won’t be left wanting for apple concessions, from apple dumplings, apple ice cream, apple pie, and more treats waiting to be sampled.
Annapolis Baygrass Festival 2024

The Annapolis Baygrass Festival will be held at the Sandy Point Skate Park this weekend, featuring artists such as Sam Bush, Oteil & Friends, The Infamous Stringdusters, Sierra Hull, Big Richard, and Brown Eyed Women! The best news? Every jam saves the bay! This conservation-minded musical event helps to protect the Chesapeake Bay and raise mental health awareness. There will be an array of workshops and activities as well, such as “Monarch Madness: Park Pollinators” in the kid zone and beach yoga hosted by Yoga Roots. Want to learn how to Shuck Like a Pro? 28th Annual Fall Festival at Summers Farm

The annual Fall Festival at Summers Farms kicked off earlier this month on the 14th! For over 28 years, the farm has been a fall family destination in Maryland’s Frederick County. With a whopping 45+ activities, plus a corn maze and a pumpkin patch — you’ll never be bored when you visit the farm. There’s something for every age bracket, including toddler-approved activities and fun for adults as well. From giant slides, barnyard animals, rubber ducky races, bull riding, wagon rides, and more, you can enjoy a full day of fall-themed festivities. Wunder Garten’s Annual Oktoberfest

Enjoy a Friday full of Bavarian beers, food, and festivities at this year’s Wunder Garten’s Oktoberfest celebration! This beer garden is open year-round and provides a welcoming, relaxed outdoor experience for those looking to sip on a craft beer and enjoy a glass of their favorite red. The garden truly comes alive during Oktoberfest season, with the large tented Bier Pavilion and seasonal fire pits. There are board games, DJs, live entertainment, and more during signature events throughout the year such as Oktoberfest and Winterfest. Jelly Roll: The Beautifully Broken Tour

Catch multi-genre hit-making Jelly Roll as he performs at the Capital One Arena this Saturday evening on The Beautifully Broken Tour. The Nashville native is known for his hits such as Wild Ones, Save Me, I Am Not Okay, and Need a Favor. Jelly Roll is touring the country on his biggest headlining tour to date, with stops across major markets like Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Washington, D.C. Tour openers include Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay. Tickets are on sale now, starting at $39.50.
National Dance Day

The Kennedy Center welcomes you to join them for another exciting National Dance Day celebration, featuring free classes, performances, and community conversations. Beginning on Saturday at 10:00 AM, explore the power behind dance and see how this form of activity can build and strengthen community and well-being. There will be breaks between the fun and food will be available for purchase from food trucks on the plaza, including empanadas and ice cream! The day’s schedule includes Beginners Swing Dance, Rhythms of India, and a SOLE Defined Movement Workshop. Little ones will have their own dance and movement classes in the Macaroni Classroom.
HFStival at Nationals Park

This year’s HFStival will feature performances from The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Incubus, Bush, Liv Phair, Jimmy Eat World, Girl Talk, Violent Femmes, and more. If you’re in the mood to run a 5K or you want to chill out with some live music and putt-putt golf, then Virginia’s Fairfax County has just the event for you! Enjoy all that Perchfest has to offer or explore the history of Alexandria with a historic homes tour.
Oktoberfest 5K & 10K

Looking for a way to get active this weekend? Check out the Oktoberfest 5K & 10K races at Port City Brewing in Alexandria. There is even a virtual race option for those who can’t make it to race day. Runners will receive one glass of beer from the brewery, as well as a finisher medal and a t-shirt. The 10K starts at 5:45 PM and the 5K begins shortly afterwards at 6:00 PM. Registration fees are set at $40 and $55, respectively, for the 5K and 10K.
Perchfest Fall
Where? 1805 Capitol One Drive, Tysons

Perchfest attendees can enjoy putt-putt, live music, fitness classes, and craft beer from Starr Hill Biergarten. There will be a Made in Fairfax pop-up shop that’s presented by Celebrate Fairfax, with an all-new Shrek twist as Broadway in Tysons prepares for five performances of Shrek the Musical. There will be special Shrek-themed activities and Instagram-worthy moments to commemorate your weekend. The festival is open to the public and free to attend, though guests are encouraged to register in advance and make a donation to Miriam’s Kitchen if they’re in the position to do so.
82nd Annual Historic Alexandria Homes Tour

Where? 106 North Columbus Street, Alexandria

If you enjoy a walk down history lane, join The Twig this year for the 82nd Historic Alexandria Homes Tour which will showcase some of the city’s finest homes. This year’s tour includes a bonus feature of Gadsby’s Tavern Museum. This beloved tour is presented by The Twig and the Junior Auxiliary of INOVA Alexandria Hospital. Proceeds benefit the hospital and you can purchase your e-ticket for $45 in advance on Saturday. Add on a physical tour book for $5 or you can use your mobile device to view the tour book.
