Winter/Spring 2025 Maritime Performance Series: Josh Goforth

This Friday, don’t miss Josh Goforth at the Calvert Marine Museum. Goforth was raised in North Carolina’s Madison County, where he became an accomplished storyteller and old-time bluegrass and swing musician. In fact, Josh plays close to 20 instruments! This is a can’t-miss concert, as Goforth has performed in all 50 states, across several continents, and has graced stages at the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Grand Ole Opry. The performance is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and tickets are priced at $20 online before the show. On the day of the concert, prices will increase to $25 online and at the door. Doors open at 6:00 PM and there will be beer, wine, soda, and water available for purchase.
Welcome Spring on the Creek: Art & Crafts Show

Join community members at the Carroll Creek Linear Park this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM for the Welcome Spring on the Creek Show. Spring is in the air, so it’s time to celebrate all things arts and crafts, along with delicious food and drinks from local vendors. Bring the whole family out and enjoy free admission and convenient parking. The show will feature unique handmade goodies, including art pieces, crafts, gifts, jewelry, home decor, pottery and so much more. Soak in the sunshine and kick off spring with a bang this weekend!
Kids Fest 2025

Howard County Recreation & Parks is excited to host Kids Fest this weekend! On Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, head to Meadowbrook Park for an afternoon of outdoor activities. Registration is cashless and is priced at $8 onsite for kids ages 2 to 12 years old! Pre-registration is encouraged, though not required. Kids Fest will feature sports instruction, games, activities, arts and crafts, and food. The day’s demonstration schedule kicks off with Kangaroo Kids (precision jump rope), before featuring a family-favorite performance by Magician Ben Corey from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM. DJ SUPERHERO will be performing by the outside pavilion and there will be two easter egg hunts.
34th Annual Chesapeake Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show
Where? 2210 Fairgrounds Road, West Friendship

The 34th Annual Chesapeake Gem, Mineral, Jewelry & Fossil Show will be held this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Attendees can expect minerals, original jewelry, fossils, and both rough and cut gemstones. There will also be silent auctions, door prizes, and activities for the little ones! The show is set to be held at the Howard County Fairgrounds and admission is free. The show is hosted by the Chesapeake Gem & Mineral Society from Baltimore, which is a non-profit organization with an interest in all things gems, minerals, fossils, and rocks. Typical monthly club meetings feature a speaker or an auction and visitors are always welcome!
Easter Egg Hunt

Mark your calendar for the best Easter egg hunt in Annapolis! This year, there will be a whopping 10,000 eggs at the “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center. That’s not all, either! Additional festive activities and treats include face painting, cotton candy, popcorn, live music, and more. The best news of all? The fun is free! Registration will take place from 10:00 AM to 10:25 AM and there will be four separate egg hunts, which will be divided by age and ability to ensure everyone gets a fair shot. Families with special needs children can enjoy the first slot from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, where all ages are welcome to participate in the fun. From there, age groups from 4 years and under, 5 to 7, and 8 to 12 will have 15-minute increments to complete their hunt and find as many eggs as they can.
Community Day at Old Maryland Farm

This Saturday is Community Day at Old Maryland Farm. No registration is required and walk-ins are welcome for this free event. Free activities include stable animal meet and greets, farm education stations, a scavenger hunt, giveaways, sheep shearing demos, and more! Community days are a great way to explore the farm and meet new friends of both the furry and two-legged variety. April will feature another Community Day at the farm on the 26th — so circle the date on your calendar so you don’t miss out!

Nature Center Sundays are held at Quiet Waters Park from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Attendees are invited to dive into the wonders of the park and the wonderful array of wildlife that call it home. From curious critters to the majestic birds in the sky, there are an abundance of opportunities to discover nature on a whole new level at the park. Nature Center Sundays meet on the second floor of the visitor center. There’s no registration fee, so just arrive with an open mind and get ready to learn something new!

Learn more about the women who helped put the city on the map as you join Alexandria Celebrates Women (ACW) President Gayle Converse on a three-mile walk around the city. The group will make brief outdoor stops at historic sites to discuss Alexandria’s iconic heroines of the past. Participants are invited to join for the whole walk or any portion of the walk. Historic sites on this weekend’s walk include the Ramsay House, the Carlyle House, City Hall, Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, and more. The event is free and open to the public and the group will meet at noon at the Alexandria Visitor’s Center.

The sale will be hosted from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM this Saturday at the McLean Community Center. There are even exciting opportunities for kiddos ages 5 to 15 years old to be supervised by a parent as they sell children’s items! This is a great way to teach lifelong skills and can also be a fun way for the community to support a young neighbor’s spirit of entrepreneurship.

This unique egg hunt at Upton Hill Regional Park invites participants to search for clues along the “Bunny Trail.” You’ll fill out a worksheet as you work to complete the loop to earn exciting prizes of treat-filled eggs! This egg hunt is guaranteed to be fun for all ages. Organizers recommend that families bring comfortable walking shoes and a sense of adventure. Reservations can be booked online.
