The Frederick Greek Festival

Don’t miss out on one of the most beloved events of the year this weekend at the annual Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Festival in Frederick! Guests can feast like they’re in Greece and dig into favorites such as Athenian chicken, spanakopita, gyros, baklava, fried loukoumades and so much more. Swing by the Taverna for imported beer and wine and enjoy live entertainment throughout the weekend, such as Greek music, traditional dances, and even live Greek dancing lessons if you want to get in on the action! Shop until you drop at the Greek Agora Marketplace or partake in one of the church tours with Father John Bullock. The festival is free to attend and the fun will kick off rain or shine! Parking is also free and can be located across the street in the shopping center or along Fairview Avenue to the right of the church.
Calvert Arts Festival

The 11th Annual Calvert Arts Festival is bringing artisans, wineries, entertainers, and food purveyors together for a can’t-miss weekend celebration. Held annually on the second Saturday in May, this festival is fun for the whole family. Embark on a historic church tour or let the children’s imaginations run wild with kid-friendly crafts. Admission is complimentary and parking is free. The festival is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will be held rain or shine at the All Saints Episcopal Church. If you want to sample wine and beer, snag a $20 wristband and pick up your souvenir-tasting glass!
Springfest at GBIA Carnival Grounds

Kick off the spring season at Springfest this Saturday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM! Entry is free and there is complimentary parking available in the garage at the carnival grounds. Join the community for a full day of fun and live music, as well as 80+ vendors and a karate demo at 2:30 PM. The fest is sure to be fun for the whole family, with a moon bounce and family activities, as well as a beer and wine garden for those ages 21 and up. Stay fueled at the delicious local food trucks and feel free to bring your own chairs, umbrellas, and tents so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the good vibes all day long!
Maryland Craft Beer Festival
Where? 44 South Market Street, Frederick

The Maryland Craft Beer Festival is being presented by Visit Frederick and is scheduled from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM this Saturday at Carroll Creek Linear Park. General admission festival entry is priced at $45 and includes beer samples from a dozen local Maryland breweries (including a few that aren’t even open to the public yet)! In total, there will be over 200 unique brews, along with live music and a delicious assortment of food options and craft vendors. VIP hours kick off the fun from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM and the last call will be at 4:45 PM. Coming as a designated driver? No problem! You’ll get access to all the fun, minus the booze for just $20! Attendees will need to show a valid, government-issued ID for entry.
Asian American and Pacific Islander Festival

The 4th annual AAPI Festival will be a vibrant celebration of the rich tapestry of Asian American and Pacific Island cultures. This year’s festival is scheduled from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM this Saturday, with doors at 11:00 AM. Bring out the whole family and enjoy a day filled with cultural performances, live music, delicious bites, artwork, and an array of interactive activities. Kiddos will love trying out the drums and practicing their origami! Local vendors will be onsite, as well as opportunities for community engagement with organizations and resources dedicated to supporting the AAPI community.
Westminster Flower and Jazz Festival

The Westminster Flower and Jazz Festival is a yearly event that’s held in Westminster’s historic downtown on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. The street fair is set to feature various local nurseries offering a variety of plants, making it a one-stop shop for your springtime and summer gardening plans! Enjoy a variety of tasty treat options as you peruse the flower and shrub options, all while you jam out to live entertainment across several stages. This year’s lineup includes the Market Street Big Band, the Noah Pierre Band, Henry & Friends, Kevin Burnes, and many more. Swing by the City of Westminster’s tent for a free flower for mom! Free parking will be available in all city municipal lots and along Main Street.

Friday Evening Parades at the Marine Barracks in DC is a unique tradition that should be experienced at least once! For over 60 years, these parades have kicked off on Friday evenings (8:45 PM) from May through August. The ceremony lasts approximately 75 minutes and showcases pride, professionalism, and the esprit de corps of the Marines. Guests will have the opportunity to experience military excellence with performances by “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, as well as “The Commandant’s Own” United States Marine Drum & Bugle Corps. Stand-Up Showcase

Don’t miss this weekend’s Stand-Up Showcase at DC Improv! Doors open at 4:45 PM, giving you a chance to get settled before the 6:00 PM show. General admission tickets are priced at $26.50, which already includes fees. The showcase will feature top talent from around the DMV region and beyond. Audiences will stay entertained with a diverse array of comedy styles and the chance to get up close and personal with some of the stars of tomorrow. The May 11th lineup is part of the AAPI Month Showcase and is set to feature Justin Um, Shelley Kim, Prince Arora, and Brittany Carney. Patrons must be 18 years or older to attend the showcase and there is a two-item minimum per customer.

Rhiannon Giddens & The Old-Time Revue are making their way to The Anthem in DC this weekend. The show is scheduled for 8:00 PM, with doors at 6:30 PM. The 27th Annual Eagle Festival at Mason Neck State Park is this weekend from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Join in on the fun with a full day of live animal shows and hands-on educational opportunities. Visitors will have the chance to see wildlife up close and learn all about resident bald eagles as they soar overhead. Enjoy exhibits from conservation partners, along with live music and food. The festival is free, so come on out and show your support for the park and its partners and sponsors! Offsite parking will be available for this event and free shuttles to the festival will be provided.
Friends of Barrett Library Spring Book Sale

The Friends of the Barrett Library are hosting a Spring Book Sale this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Browse an extensive selection of books, DVDs, and CDs at this bi-annual sale at the Kate Waller Barrett Branch Library. The money raised from this sale goes towards supporting services and events at the library throughout the year, such as children’s and adult programs and secure equipment and materials that help enhance library services for the community!
Art in the Burg
Where? South Madison Street and Federal Street, Middleburg

Art in the Burg is Middleburg’s annual celebration of the arts, held along South Madison and Federal Streets on the second Saturday in May. This Saturday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, enjoy all things painting, pottery, photography, sculpture, woodworking, candles, soaps, jewelry and so much more. Everything is handcrafted and locally made, so you can feel good about giving back to local small businesses and vendors. Art in the Burg will also feature live music, dance, improv, storytelling, and a range of craft beverages and festival foods! The 2025 schedule will feature the Loudoun Jazz Society, Jubilee Performing Arts, Thapasya Bharatanatyam Dance, and more.
NOVA’s Largest Pickle & Grilled Cheese Festival

Do you consider yourself a lover of all things pickles and grilled cheese sandwiches? If you answered yes, then you can’t miss out on NOVA’s Largest Pickle Festival! With over 35 vendors in attendance, this will be a pickle palooza for the books. Dive into a sea of tangy treats, with a variety of flavors and brines. The festival will also feature 10 grilled cheese food vendors, so feast on an array of exciting creations from gooey childhood classics to gourmet twists that will leave your mouth watering. The festival will be held from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Saturday and until 6:00 PM on Sunday and admission is priced at $5 at the door (for Saturday only — Sunday is free)!
