Make the most of the weekend in Maryland with the annual MudFest, the Lavender Days Festival at the Dixon Family Farm, or the delicious St. Mary’s County Crab Festival.

Music on the Lawn

Where? 1418 East West Shady Side Road, Shady Side
When? June 13th

Music on the Lawn is scheduled for Fridays in June, kicking off at 6:00 PM and lasting through 8:00 PM. Come on out and enjoy the wonderful company and local music on the lawn overlooking the scenic West River. Make sure to bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs so you can get comfortable during the concert! There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, and various snacks for sale, as well as drinks for all ages. Tickets are priced at $5 for members and $10 for non-members and Music on the Lawn is free for kids under the age of 13. The June lineup features Solid Sender this Friday, followed by Fair Dinkum and Roots & Tides to close out the month. No outside alcohol is permitted and parking will be limited. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on the lawn.

Gem Miner’s Spring Gem, Jewelry and Mineral Show

Where? 2210 Fairgrounds Road, West Friendship
When? June 13th-15th

The Gem Miner’s Spring Show will be held this weekend from Friday through Sunday at the Howard County Fairgrounds. The event is open to the public and hours kick off from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, and will wrap up from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Double your chances of winning a door prize by purchasing tickets online. Online ticket purchases will receive two entry submissions into the hourly drawings for a $10 gift certificate to spend at the show. Tickets will also be available for $6 at the door (cash only) and kids ages 12 and under receive free admission. With over 65 vendors to explore, there will be plenty to see at the gem, jewelry, fossil, arts & craft show!

Sykesville Pride Day

Where? 7566 Main Street, Sykesville
When? June 14th

Sykesville Pride Day is coming to Downtown Sykesville this Saturday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Embrace love and acceptance and enjoy vendors, performances, and community engagement all afternoon long in the McElroy Lot behind The French Twist. Attendees can expect face painting, live music, food trucks, book readings, vendors, crafts, resources, and even a drag queen performance. Kiddos will love the moon bounce and the free cotton candy! If you’re a parent to a fur baby, bring Fido dressed in his most fabulous costume to participate in Hound Pride. Pups must be kept on a leash at all times.

39th Annual St. Mary’s County Crab Festival

Where? 42455 Fairgrounds Road, Leonardtown
When? June 14th

The Leonardtown Lions Club is excited to present the 39th Annual St. Mary’s County Crab Festival this Saturday at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. This celebration is all about the county’s crab culture, with plenty of steamed hard crabs, crab soups, crab cakes, and other seafood dishes to go around. After you’ve had your fill, make sure to check out the regional crafters. There will also be local entertainment and live music throughout the festival, including a classic car show and a large inflatable area for the little ones. Children aged 12 and under get in free! The festival is pet-friendly, so bring the whole family along. If you think you’re a pro at crab picking, join the contest and try to take home the trophy for the heaviest “pickings” of the bunch!

Frederick Summer Solstice 8K and One-Mile Fun Run

Where? 79 West Frederick Street, Walkersville
When? June 14th

You won’t want to miss the Frederick Summer Solstice 8K this Saturday! This is the county’s original 8K Twilight Race, which is a fantastic way to herald the beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Whether you race in the 8K or participate in the one-mile fun run, everyone is invited to enjoy the fresh air! Strollers are also welcome to participate in the fun run/walk. Commemorate the 10th annual event, which is presented by the Frederick Steeplechasers Running Club, by signing up and sticking around after the race for a legendary celebration complete with craft beer and live music. Net proceeds from the race will go towards Blessings in a Backpack, which helps to provide food to school-age children on the weekends and over school breaks.

MudFest

Where? 20207 Darnestown Road, Beallsville
When? June 14th & 15th

Are you ready to get dirty this weekend? Montgomery Parks is hosting the annual MudFest, which is sure to connect you to your roots via giant man-made mud pits. Attendees can cool off, splash, jump around, and make as big of a mess as they want! There will be a mudslide, as well as a mud volcano and a pop-up kitchen for mud pies. Wear your oldest t-shirt and feel free to bring plastic buckets, shovels, and even wheelbarrows to create the mud castle of your dreams. Live music will be provided by a DJ and there will be food options from local vendors, such as El Jefe Woodfired Pizza and Clayboy’s Shave Ice. The fee for MudFest is priced at $20 per car, so pack up your friends and family and enjoy!

Lavender Days Festival

Where? 27075 South Sandgates Road, Mechanicsville
When? June 14th & 15th

Lavender Days Festival will be held this Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Dixon Family Farm. Snag your tickets today, which include a welcome bag with a $10 coupon to the farm store and access to live music, local artisan vendors, blooming lavender fields, informational talks, and much more. On-site parking will be available for $15 and you can upgrade your Lavender Days Festival with extras such as painting workshops, lavender tattoos, distillation demonstrations, field tours, and much more when you purchase your admission tickets. Saturday’s entertainment will be provided by the Groovespan Trio and On Bleeker Street. On Bleeker Street will return Sunday, along with Kevin Lee. Sunday will also be kids’ day, so bring the little ones out to enjoy a petting zoo and face painting!

A Wrinkle in Time Opening Weekend

A Wrinkle in Time is opening this Thursday in Arena Stage’s Kreeger Theater, directed by Lee Sunday Evans and based on the novel written by Madeleine L’Engle. Audiences will be captivated by the mysterious disappearance of Meg Murray’s father, who then sends her on an intergalactic quest through time and space. This musical adaptation of the beloved novel will be performed at 8:00 PM on Thursday and Friday, with two showtimes on Sunday at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM. The musical will be presented through late July, giving you plenty of time to grab tickets! Special performances include July 5th, which is audio described, and July 12th, which is ASL interpreted.

Jazz in the Garden Returns: Free Summer Concerts

Jazz in the Garden is making a grand return this summer season at the National Gallery of Art. Through July 11th, catch riveting performances at DC’s favorite summer concert series. For over two decades, Jazz in the Garden has delighted audiences by turning the Art Sculpture Garden into a stage. Cool off by the fountain and enjoy light refreshments while you listen to the talented musicians. Watch as the garden comes alive with performances across genres such as jazz, Latin fusion, R&B, and more. This Friday, catch DC’s own soul vocalist Kyaira! Registration to Jazz in the Garden is offered via a lottery system to give everyone an equal chance of attending this popular event. Registration is required for ages 2 and above.

Vans Warped Tour

Vans Warped Tour is coming to DC, marking a triumphant return in 2025 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this beloved musical event. Warped Tour will be featuring three two-day festivals in DC, Long Beach, and Orlando, with each stop showcasing 70 to 100 bands. Represented genres include (but are not limited to), rock, punk rock, alternative, pop punk, emo, and much more. This iconic festival will feature names such as All Time Low, Asking Alexandria, Avril Lavigne, Knuckle Puck, Mayday Parade, Simple Plan, Sublime, The Maine, and many more favorites. GA passes, as well as VIP passes, are available via the Official Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster.

Taste of FFX Festival 2025

Excite your tastebuds at the Taste of FFX Festival at Fair Oaks Mall this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This event is hosted by KOJAM Events and Fair Oaks Mall, featuring food trucks and vendors, boutique brands, service providers, and an array of local businesses. Admission to the event is free, so swing by to check out the delicious flavors and engaging activities for all ages. There will be live entertainment to keep the energy high and hundreds of festivalgoers are expected throughout the afternoon, so arrive early to beat the crowd!

47th Annual ALX Jazz Fest

Where? 1A Prince Street, Alexandria

The annual Alexandria Jazz Fest is a can’t-miss weekend event. For the past 47 years, the festival has provided live jazz entertainment to locals at the end of spring. The event is managed by the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts and is held at the waterfront. Take in beautiful live performances by some of the region’s top jazz performers, along with inspiring presentations by renowned poets. Attendees can expect hands-on activities, such as art projects, lawn games, and more. There will also be food vendors and drinks all afternoon. The fest kicks off at 3:00 PM and admission is free! The lineup this year includes Jeanette Berry, Carolyn Malachi, Warren Wolf, and more. Leashed pets are welcome and there are several parking garages in Old Town Alexandria, as well as street parking along Union Street and neighboring roads.

Cajun Festival 2025

Take a step into New Orleans without ever leaving Virginia this weekend at Saturday’s Cajun Festival from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM! Experience the Louisiana heat with New Orleans jazz tunes throughout the day at Breaux Vineyards and Cajun-themed food trucks and craft vendors. The music lineup for Saturday’s event kicks off with VooDoo Blues and is followed by Corey Arceneaux and the Zydeco Hot Peppers. Adult tickets are priced at $20 and include one souvenir glass and decorative Cajun beads. Children get a discounted rate of $10! No dogs or picnics are permitted on festival days.
