If you’re a Swiftie or you have a Taylor Swift fan in your life, you won’t want to miss out on the Swift Lover Skate at the Capital Clubhouse in Waldorf! Join the fun on the ice and celebrate with your besties or your lover like it’s 1989! The rink will be decorated and Taylor Swift hits will be playing for the entire skate. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed for the part. Organizers will be looking for the best-dressed skater on the ice for themed prizes. Candlelight: Valentine’s Day Special

Looking for a romantic way to spend Valentine’s Day evening? Check out the Candlelight concert at Maryland Hall in Annapolis. These unique concerts bring the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience to stunning locations, all under the gentle, romantic glow of candlelight. Doors open an hour before the start of the performance and there is an age requirement of 8 and older. The tentative program for the Valentine’s Day Special performance includes Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John, A Whole New World by Aladdin, Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley and My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. The talented performers for this Friday’s Candlelight concert will be the Listeso String Quartet.
Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival

The Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival is scheduled to be a three-day event at the Bethesda Marriott. Attendees can enjoy world-class vendors and of course, plenty of jazz music across five stages. Four of the stages are paid and the JAM stage that’s located inside of the hotel’s Copper’s Mill restaurant is a free stage. The event will also have masterclasses, live interviews with performing artists, and even an exciting midnight jam session. The event is presented by the Jazz Academy of Music, which is a non-profit organization on a mission to advance and preserve jazz music through education and outreach. Frederick City Hyper Local Brew Fest

Beer lovers can unite at this weekend’s Frederick City Hyper Local Brew Fest at The Great Frederick Fair. This is the ultimate local beer celebration, allowing the community to celebrate and support all of the awesome Frederick City breweries. The event will also feature tasty food trucks, awesome live music, and a variety of vendors. Participating breweries at this weekend’s fest include Olde Mother, RAK, Idiom, Midnight Run, Rockwell, and Monocacy. There will be plenty of free parking onsite. Tickets will be sold for $12 at the door for ages 21 and up and $10 for ages 18 to 20. Ages 17 and under are free. The event is scheduled to run from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
2025 Rockville Lantern Festival

This year’s Rockville Lantern Festival will be held at the Cultural Center of TECRO. Attendees are invited to celebrate the Asian Lantern Festival with exclusive Neon Gods Dance performances and an array of fun activities like magic shows, interactive puppet shows, character paper cutting, storytelling, and much more. The event is free and open to the public, so invite your friends or bring out the family for a memorable experience. The festival will kick off at 1:00 PM with cultural activity booths and there will be a live performance from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
Maryland Kennel Dog Club Show

The annual All-Breed AKC Dog Show will be held at the Howard County Fairgrounds this weekend from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily. Parking is priced at $5 per vehicle. The show will present over 1,000 AKC pedigree dogs from approximately 200 breeds each day. The club was established in 1885 in Baltimore and remains the second-oldest all-breed kennel club in the country. The Maryland Kennel Club works tirelessly to protect and advance the interests of purebred dogs and to provide the public with education and mentorship. Nerd Nite will be held this Saturday at DC9! Doors open at 6:00 PM and the show kicks off at 6:30 PM. Nerd Nite DC has been a local favorite irreverent lecture series dating back to 2009. This is a 21-and-up event that will feature three speakers and dozens of cheeky slides. The bar is sure to be full of rowdy nerds who love to take deep dives into special interests. This month will feature themes of love to commemorate Valentine’s weekend. The three speakers will be joined by Nerd Nite DC producer and legend, Rae Pendergrass. Advance tickets are priced at $10 plus fees and on the day of the event, tickets increase by $5.
WWE: NXT Vengeance Day

The first WWE premium live event is coming to the CareFirst Arena in DC after nearly nine years. Vengeance Day will feature some of the biggest superstars from NXT, including champion Trick Williams, women’s champion Roxanne Perez, and North American champion Tony D’Angelo. Tickets are priced as low as the $70s and go up to $150+ for sections closer to the ring. The NXT Championship will be on the line in the nation’s capital as Oba Femi defends his title against Grayson Waller and Austin Theory in this exciting Triple Threat Match. Step Afrika! Community Day & Step Show

The Step Afrika! Step Classic is a three-day celebration of stepping in the nation’s capital. The event is inspired by the legacy of HBCU Classics and this inaugural weekend will highlight the powerful art form that is stepping. With step teams from across the country, the Classic will center the origins of the art form and its evolution into a unifying tradition that bridges generations and brings honor to the African American heritage. Community Day on Saturday will be held from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the National Building Museum, complete with live performances, family-friendly activities, and more — all for free! The NoVA Sports Card Show is a day filled with buying, selling, and trading your favorite sports cards, memorabilia, and collectibles at one of the DMV’s premier shows. This Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, come on out to check out the door prizes and the multitude of restaurants within walking distance. Admission is priced at $5 or you can get an early half-hour admission for $10. There will be a nearby parking garage. The sports card shows occur roughly every 2-3 months, so catch one of the upcoming ones on May 17th or July 12th!
Potomac Overlook: Won’t You Be My Owlentine?

Love is in the air this weekend at the Potomac Overlook Regional Park. Bring the family out to view stunning birds of prey and join in on the discussion about mating habits during the breeding season and even get a photo taken with a live bird of prey! Tickets are priced at $7 per participant ages 6 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult and the group will meet at the nature center. The Valentine’s-adjacent discussion will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Saturday.
Astronomy Festival

The Astronomy Festival will be held at the Turner Farm Park Observatory this Saturday at 5:30 PM. This is a great family-friendly event that includes guided stargazing, looking through the telescope, and listening to fascinating stories about the constellations and how they got their names around the campfire. Attendees can participate in other activities and games throughout the evening and hot chocolate is included with the price of registration. The event will be canceled due to rain or snow but if the weather looks clear — then it’s sure to be a great way to spend your evening/night!
Stout Fest 2025

Stout Fest 2025 is the ultimate dark beer event of the season. Hosted by Mustang Sally Brewing Company, Stout Fest will feature 16 unique dark beers. The tap list lineup includes Brunch Princess (imperial coffee stout), Dessert First: Banana Bread (imperial pastry stout), Half Moon Rising (Czech-style dark lager), I’ve Gotta Fever (imperial milk stout), Hear Me Roar 2024 (bourbon barrel aged imperial stout), and many more.
