Annapolis Irish Festival

The Annapolis Irish Festival is back this spring season and this time, the festivities have been extended across two days! On Friday night, kick off the fun with an exclusive adults-only event with live music. Saturday will feature Irish-themed fun for all ages, including live performances, delicious food and drink options, and exciting themed vendors and activities. General admission prices range from $20-$50, depending on which day you attend and whether you upgrade to a combo ticket. Children ages 12 and under are free but will still need to have a child’s ticket. Exciting events and activities at this year’s Irish Festival include axe throwing, Irish dancers, the Guinness Mile, and the Best Red Head Contest!
55th Annual Flower & Plant Show
Where? 3311 Littlestown Pike, Westminster

The annual Flower & Plant Market in Westminster is scheduled for this weekend, with hours ranging from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sunday. Check out the beautiful selection of regionally grown favorites, including hanging baskets, annuals and perennials, vegetable plants, shrubs, herbs, and more. Swing by the Gardener’s Corner to peruse gently used books, pots, and other gardening bargains to kick your spring planting season into high gear. Kountry Kafe Catering will be offering a light luncheon menu and patrons can also shop garden-related vendors. On Saturday only, families can enjoy the offering at the children’s activity table provided by the Littlestown Garden Club!
Marylandfest

This Saturday, don’t skip Marylandfest! From 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, enjoy all things Maryland and dive into fun activities, delicious bites, and more with friends, family, and the local community. The festival will kick things off with The Foggy Bottom Morris Dancers at 11:30 AM with a performance of athletic traditional dance from England. From 12:15 PM To 1:45 PM, singer/guitarist/songwriter Andrew Bell will take the stage. Vendors at this year’s Marylandfest include The Crabby Crafter, Fairy Bowmother Bowtique, Corn Crib Studio Art and Publishing, and many more! Make sure to work up an appetite, with food and beverage options including Cousins Maine Lobster, Gato Tacos, Grizzly Mountain Grill, 1623 Brewing Co., and plenty more to choose from.
Frederick Running Festival

The Frederick Running Festival is proudly presented by Frederick Foot & Ankle. This weekend, explore one of the hidden gems of the local running community with four races, which all finish at the Frederick Fairgrounds. Runners will delight in a big-time race with small-town charm, with half-marathon and two-person team relays available on Sunday and a 5K and Kids Fun Run on Saturday. The half marathon is open to participants at least 14 years old on race day — so bring the whole family out! The race will begin at 7:00 AM with a staggered start, with runners assigned start times based on estimated finish times.
Asia on the Creek

The Asian American Center of Frederick is excited to host Asia on the Creek this Saturday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carroll Creek Outdoor Amphitheater. The day will be jam-packed with vibrant cultural showcases, as well as tasty Asian cuisine and fun activities that the whole family can enjoy. You won’t have to leave Maryland for a taste of the diverse heritage of Asia, so whether you’re a foodie that loves to try new dishes or you’re a big fan of live music and you want to experience the rich traditions of Asian cultural performance — Asia on the Creek can’t wait to greet you! Sligo Creek Fest

This Saturday, Montgomery County Parks are celebrating Sligo Creek Fest from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This annual event transforms the Sligo Creek Open Parkway into a one-mile family-friendly street festival featuring several live stages, as well as children’s activities and food and drink vendors. Enjoy demonstrations from 15+ Montgomery Parks groups, as well as roving entertainment and hands-on activities. This year’s musical lineup features Kristen & The Noise, The Uncle Devin Show, Ted Garber, and Rocknoceros. Attendees who opt to ride their bikes to the festival can take advantage of the free Bike Valet that’s been generously sponsored by the Montgomery Parks Foundation.

Head on over to the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds for a jam-packed day of delicious pizza and refreshing brews, as well as ice cream aplenty! The Maryland Pizza and Pints Festival is a family-friendly event that allows attendees to indulge in all of their favorite treats. Shop local vendors and try the best of what Maryland has to offer this Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Participating pizzerias include Timber Pizza, Fox’s Den, Underground Pizza, B’s Brick Oven Pizza, Secret Pizza, and more. First Sunday Arts Festival

The Flower Mart is an annual benefit for the gardens and grounds of the Washington National Cathedral. All Hallows Guild has hosted the mart since 1939, making this year the 86th festival! There is no parking on the streets of the Cathedral but there will be garage parking available nearby. Take a ride on the antique carousel or explore the booths that range from the White Elephant Tent to the Book Tent and over 65 boutique booths. Latin Restaurant Weeks is hosted in partnership with the Feed the Soul Foundation and takes place across various locations, kicking off with DC from May 2nd through the 16th before heading to NYC, Houston, Chicago, and beyond! Dive into the diversity of Latin American cuisine on this exciting tour of flavors, with DMV restaurants, food trucks, and culinary businesses offering mouthwatering specials that can be found here. Options vary from prix fixe menus to can’t-miss deals on hidden gems.

Kentucky Derby Day Cocktail Party

Catch the 151st Kentucky Derby at THRōW Social in DC this Saturday! Take advantage of the 20-foot Jumbotron, along with drink specials, tasty bites, and even the best hat contest. The Rosslyn BID will be collecting used books for a good cause and patrons can also donate gently used children’s clothing for Clothesline Arlington. Feed Fairfax 5K

Feed Fairfax 5K is dedicated to tackling child hunger! Fairfax County is one of the wealthiest counties in the nation but 1 in 3 children in the county’s public schools are suffering from food insecurity. 100% of race entry fees and donations go towards supporting local charities that are fighting back against child hunger. The race begins at 8:00 AM. After you finish the 5K, help pack the food that was funded through race entry fees! Participants will be packing “Power Packs,” which are backpack meals that are sent home with students who don’t get enough to eat on the weekends.
4th Annual Alexandria Springtime Art Festival
Where? 300 John Carlyle Street, Alexandria

The 4th Annual Alexandria Springtime Art Festival is scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on both days. Admission is free, so swing by John Carlyle Square and soak in the springtime air. The festival will feature a juried selection of artwork from both local and national fine artists, totaling over 1,000 pieces that have all been made in the USA across a diverse array of mediums. This Springtime Art Festival can be compared to the popular September Howard Alan Annual Alexandria Art Festival, which has been ranked as one of the top shows in the nation by Sunshine Artist Magazine.
