Howard County Recreation & Parks is hosting this exciting Snowflake Ball Family Dance on Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gary J. Arthur Community Center. Registration is priced at $40 for center members (1 child & 1 adult), $20 for an additional child and $50 for nonmembers. Pre-registration for this event is required. Snap up your tickets and get ready to shake, rock, and roll the winter blues away. Parents (or special adults) and children can enjoy refreshments, dancing, crafts, and even a delicious ice cream sundae bar. There will also be a DJ! This is a 21 and up event and there will be free venue parking. Tickets are on sale for $35, with the evening scheduled from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Toby’s Dinner & Show is excited to present 9 to 5 The Musical. With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, 9 to 5 is based on the smash hit movie! Three unlikely friends learn that there’s nothing they can’t do. The female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with their boss and in a hilarious turn of events, end up giving their boss the boot! The musical is set to run through March 16th, so there’s still plenty of time to catch a performance if you can’t make it out this weekend. The cast features Valerie Adams Rigsbee, Diane Alonso, Leela Aviles-Dawson, Brandon Bedore, and more!
Monster Jam 2025

Monster Jam is coming to the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore this weekend! Featured competitors at this year’s show feature Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Megalodon, ThunderROARus, Monster Mutt Dalmatian, and many more. Doors open on Friday at 6:00 PM, with the start time scheduled for an hour later. Saturday’s pit party kicks off early at 10:30 AM and doors open at noon. Pit parties give fans a chance to see the massive trucks up close, meet their favorite drivers and crews, get autographs, and take photos! All fans ages 2 and older are required to have a ticket. Jurassic Quest

Jurassic Quest is the world’s largest and most popular dinosaur event with a range of unique and exciting experiences for the whole family. When purchasing your tickets, you’ll choose a designated arrival time. All guests ages 2 and older must have a ticket. Kiddos under the age of 2 will receive free kids’ standard admission. Premium add-ons like green screen photos and face paint are not included with tickets and must be purchased on-site at the Dino Store.
Potomac River Cleanup for MLK Jr. Day of Service

Help clean up the local river to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with this service opportunity at East Norbeck Local Park in Silver Spring. The Potomac Conservancy will be cleaning up trash, which will help make a huge difference for the river as the water can remain a safe, healthy place to recreate outdoors. There are 50 spots available, so snag yours before they’re gone! Once you’re registered, you’ll receive important information and updated safety protocols, as well as information on what you should bring to the event. The river cleanup is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Tickets are free but organizers request that you reserve your spot in advance.
City of Laurel Health Fair

20th Annual MLK Holiday DC Peace Walk & Parade

From 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, the MLK Parade and Wellness Fair takes place at The Entertainment & Sports Arena at 1100 Oak Drive SE. Registration is required for this free event and attendees can benefit from free groceries, wellness info, health exhibitors, vendors, merch, and more. The Peace Walk & Rally will be held at 9:30 AM in Shepherd Park. There will also be a community clean-up project event at Shepherd Park on Friday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for those who want to do their part and get involved!

As a woman-managed nonprofit, the market is proudly one of the few independently owned farmers markets in the district. Shipgarten is hosting the America the Great Festival this weekend. On Saturday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, enjoy sampling a wide variety of drinks and food while you compete in festival events for prizes or take photos in the photo booth. Shipgarten is 100% dog friendly, whether they’re on a leash or playing in the off-leash dog park. There will be plenty of treats for Fido as well, such as pup cups and Kongs filled with peanut butter! Shipgarten is set to open at 11:00 AM, so arrive early and stay late! Critters Close Up: Snakes!

This Sunday, you’ll have the opportunity to meet some of NOVA Parks’ snake ambassador animals as we celebrate the Year of the Snake. Learn all about these new legless friends and even touch one! All participants in Critters Close Up must register in advance. This activity is designed for ages 5 and up. Everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult. The snake meet and greet will be hosted from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Winkler Botanical Preserve and the group will meet at the Catherine Lodge. Limited openings are available, so secure your spot ASAP!
